MS20001 Hinges — January 15, 2016

MS20001 Hinges

MS20001 Butt hinges

MS20001 hinges are extruded from aluminum alloy with the option of plain, anodized or chemically surface treated finishes. The MS20001 series hinges are typically manufactured in continuous lengths and then cut to size to meet length requirements. In addition, the full MS20001 series part number is stamped at regular intervals along the length of each hinge to make identifying replacements easier.

MS20001 Hinge Part Numbering

Compared to other mil-spec parts the MS20001 series has a relatively complex part numbering system. One of the key features of the part numbering system is that the last dash number indicates the length of the hinge in inches to the 100th decimal place. For example MS20001PH6-7200 has a length of 72 inches while MS20001PY16-2150 has a length of 21.5 inches.

MS21914 Caps — January 13, 2016

MS21914 Caps

MS21914 pressure seal caps are commonly used on aerospace applications to securely close tubing. MS21914 series caps feature a raised hex nut to allow for maximum torque when tightening. In addition, the MS21914 caps have a retainer ring on the end to prevent the loss of the cap upon removal. MS21914 pressure seal caps are available in carbon steel, aluminum alloy, stainless steel, and titanium alloy. The specification notes that titanium alloy is not recommended for use in oxygen systems.

MS21914 Part Number Configuration

Each dash number after the series number (MS21914) indicates a different size with other characters indicating the material and finish. For example, part number MS21914-16 is designed for 1 inch diameter tubing and has an inside diameter (ID) of .906 inches, a length of 1.189 inches, and is made from carbon steel.

Check out the MS21914 spec sheet for more details MS21914 tube caps.

MS20392 Pins — January 11, 2016

MS20392 Pins

MS20392 series pins are referred to as clevis pins because of the drilled hole in the shank. The hole allows the pin to be secured in place by inserting a split pin (cotter pin) into the hole. MS20392 pins are available in three material options: steel alloy, corrosion resistant steel (stainless steel), and titanium alloy. Finishes include cadmium, chrome, solid film lubricant, and passivated. MS20392 pin diameters range from .125 inches to 1.00 inches. while lengths range from .219 inches to  4.281 inches.

MS21043 Locknuts — January 8, 2016

MS21043 Locknuts

MS21043 self-locking nuts are manufactured from corrosion heat resistant steel with silver plating on all threaded surfaces and optional silver plating on all other surfaces. The MS21043 series locknuts feature a low profile optimized for use in tight spaces as well as a ring base to eliminate the need for washers. Like other locknuts the MS21043 series is designed to stay securely fastened despite heavy vibration and constant movement.

MS21043 Part Number Breakdown

  • Example: MS21043-3
    • MS21043 = Base mil-spec part number
    • -3 = The size dash number – In this case 10-32 thread
    • _ = Any additional code indicates plating – No code indicates silver plating
